This lovely puppy is a brown & white border collie. I have chosen to use black & white here to help her stand out from the floor which is also a light brown colour. I feel rightly or wrongly that it also emphasises her markings.

This is a 'classic' view of a rural Suffolk church. My interest here was to capture the autumn colour in the trees. The trees change with the seasons, but the church doesn't. I aim to return to the same spot as the seasons change to see if I can build up a small montage to reflect this. Corny eh?

This corner of the churchyard is overgrown but has some rather splendid tombs - no doubt people who were once important in the area. This shot is of three graves marked with similar crosses, but the one at the front is larger than the other two. To me it looks a bit like some depictions of the crucifixion in art.
I took a few shots to try to capture the light which filtered through the trees. This was the best one in my opinion.

I know there's a gaping great hole in the middle of the picture with nothing but sky in it. Unfortunately neither a golden eagle or a WW2 Spitfire happened to fly by at the time, so maybe some time later I'll experiment with Photoshop and see what I can put into the space!
I choose a small aperture & focussed the shot on the middle beam. This seems to have worked out the way I wanted it to.

I wanted to capture the vivid autumn colours of the vine on the wall. I choose this angle so that the image leads away to the left. The light and shadows help, in my view. Does it work? I'm not sure, but that's what this is all about!

Steps to nowhere at Snape Maltings

I've fiddled around with this one a bit to get the buildings in the distance vertical, which makes the nearby building lean inwards. The steps actually go nowhere, so the no entry sign is rather approriate. Maybe one day I'll try this in B&W with the no-entry sign coloured.

Virtually nothing is horizontal or vertical (apart from the beam), intentionally, but its almost entirely straight lines. Just playing.

Very strong contrast between light & shade here because of the low afternoon autumn sun. I mover around a bit to get this angle specifically and focussed on the right-hand column.

This is one of a pair of shots taken through the sculpture at Snape Maltings. The very wide aperture (f5) puts the reeds beyond completely out of focus. Unfortunately I didn't notice that I'd clipped the top of the image until I got home. Doh!

This is the other half of the pair - here the narrow aperture (f22) allowed me to keep the view beyond more or less in focus. There is a church tower dead centre.

I chose a wide aperture here to try to emphasise the old brickwork and soften the thatch beyond. I'm not really sure that I achieved this, but I like it anyway - so its here!
